About the Role
The Marine HSE Advisor plays a pivotal role in promoting the implementation and continuous improvement of our safety framework and HSE Strategic Plan within the Cruise Whitsundays business. This dynamic position involves crafting robust procedures and refining work practices to ensure compliance with essential Australian Standards, safety legislation, regulations, and corporate benchmarks. While the primary focus is on delivering exemplary support to Cruise Whitsundays, the Marine HSE Advisor will also extend their expertise to the Darwin Harbour Cruise and Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney businesses, as well as other marine operations when needed. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a culture of safety excellence across our marine ventures!
Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Serve as the ICAM Lead Investigator for health, safety, and environmental incidents, providing expert recommendations and advice to stakeholders. Coach and educate staff on health, safety, and environmental practices to foster a strong safety culture. Coordinate bi-yearly Marine Advisory Safety Committee meetings and support documentation efforts. Engage in Project Management Teams to ensure alignment of safety and change management with Corporate HSE frameworks. Organise and facilitate maritime safety, security, and WHS training for all staff levels. Support the Injury Management system and work closely with the Corporate Injury Management Advisor for positive rehabilitation outcomes. Champion a positive safety culture by ensuring timely incident reporting, investigations, and maintaining the HSE risk register. Promote the Journey Lightly philosophy and assist in implementing Environmental Management strategies for compliance and stewardship. About You
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Marine HSE Advisor who is passionate about safety and environmental management to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in health, safety, and environmental management, with proven experience in implementing safety frameworks in a marine setting. Exceptional communication and coaching skills are essential, as they will empower managers and team members to adopt safe work practices and foster a positive safety culture. The successful candidate will coordinate safety committee meetings, manage projects, deliver training programmes, and oversee incident investigations and injury management. With a strong understanding of Australian safety standards and a commitment to excellence, you will play a key role in promoting our Journey Lightly philosophy and driving continuous improvement across our marine ventures, including Cruise Whitsundays, Darwin Harbour Cruise, and Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney.
To be successful in this role, you will have / be: An in-depth understanding of Australian health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to the marine industry. Excellent verbal and written skills to engage and inform staff at all levels. Proficiency in mentoring managers and team members to enhance safety culture. An analytical mindset for effective incident investigation and safety solutions. A strong ability to build relationships and work within cross-functional teams. Flexibility in dynamic environments with a focus on continuous improvement of safety practices. Requirements:
