About the Role
As the Senior Manager, Climate Reporting & Policy, you will be responsible for managing the Group’s mandatory climate reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations. You will effectively communicate our climate performance and the management of climate risks and opportunities.
This role requires an understanding of climate and financial reporting concepts, along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with the Group’s mandatory Climate Program, you will play a pivotal role in establishing long-term climate reporting processes and capabilities.
Your work will be conducted against a backdrop of heightened scrutiny from social, governmental, investor, and customer perspectives, particularly with the introduction of mandatory climate disclosures in Australia. What will your day look like?
As the Senior Manager, Climate Reporting & Policy, your day will be dynamic and impactful. You will:
* Drive and oversee climate report production, to meet voluntary and mandatory climate reporting standards (including Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) AASB S2 and other jurisdictions as required) and stakeholder expectations.
* Provide leadership and support to the Governance, Disclosures and Assurance workstream of the mandatory Climate Program.
* Engage and direct climate reporting inputs from ANZ functions and business units including Suncorp and New Zealand, providing guidance and constructive challenge.
* Lead and manage reviews and approval of content and liaise with ANZ functions and business units on matters raised from reviewers including executive management and Board.
* Oversee management of feedback of submissions by ANZ Group to industry associations to government on climate reporting consultations (and as it evolves nature), including liaising with broader teams to ensure a Group view is obtained.
* Work closely with the Lead, Climate Governance and Policy and the Lead, Climate Reporting and Policy to:
o Interpret the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard (ASRS) AASB S2 climate-related disclosures and provide subject matter guidance.
o Develop climate reporting policies.
o Uplift of climate reporting governance controls and compliance with the non-financial risk framework, including building awareness and consistent understanding of application.
* Draft papers for board and executive management.
* Provide strategic climate reporting advice and tactical support to business stakeholders and broader ESG disclosures team as required.
* Provide review and oversight of climate/ESG disclosure enquiries including from investors.
* Monitor development of new and evolving climate and nature reporting frameworks, and assess impact on ANZ, working with other key stakeholders such as Risk.
* Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
* Record of achievement in a like or similar role, with experience managing climate/ESG reporting for an ASX-listed organisation.
* Strong understanding of national and international reporting and accounting frameworks such as Taskforce on Climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD), ASRS, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), GHG Protocol and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
* Excellent analytical, writing and communications skills, including the ability to understand and simplify complex matters.
* Extensive experience developing and managing project and stakeholder plans and schedules to manage the time, cost and resource allocation.
* Demonstrated ability to identify working relationships within and across teams, and promote the effective development of these relationships.
* A genuine people leader who takes an always learning and hands-on approach, and can lead through change.
Some additional ‘nice to have’ skills for this role include:
* Expert understanding of national and international reporting and accounting frameworks such as TCFD, ASRS, ISSB, GHG Protocol and GRI.
* Experience and engagement with industry and reporting bodies as it relates to climate reporting.
* Experience in exercising initiative, sound judgement and strong decision making in a high-profile complex environment.
* Good experience in delivery (delivering to a plan while considering sometimes multiple upstream and downstream dependencies).
* Demonstrated resilience with proven ability to lead through uncertainty, the unexpected and competing priorities.
* Enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer centric and collaborative team environment.
* Financial, risk or regulatory reporting or audit experience.
* Banking and financial sector experience.
* Experience working with senior executives.
