Fixed Term - 12-months (parental leave cover) Full Time at 80 hrs per f/n Clinical Nurse Consultant A or B - ZF4/ZJ4 Alfred Location Department The Diabetes and Endocrine Unit, part of the Alfred Specialty Medicine Program Position Summary The Diabetes and Endocrine Unit, part of the Alfred Specialty Medicine Program, has a very exciting opportunity available for a Endocrine Nurse CNC position. It is a fixed term, full time position for 12 months with a ZF4 classification. The Alfred Specialty Medicine Program with in the Operations division is comprised of six clinical units including: Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Dermatology, Endocrine and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Renal and Rheumatology. The program provides admitted services including multiday (Ward 4WA) and Same Day Dialysis services (The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham campuses), and specialist outpatient and ambulatory services. This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced RN/CNS to experience this unique role. The role requires performing, supervising and assisting in clinical testing and procedures as well as patient liaison, education and co-ordination of laboratory – clinical interfacing. The role involves patient triage and assessment on referrals received from internally and externally (private endocrinology clinics) that informs and contributes to the development of optimal care planning and treatment care pathways. This CNC role is to educate patients, families and carers which in turn assists their understanding of their diagnosis and subsequent treatments. The Endocrinology CNC responsibilities encompass a wide array of patient care and administrative duties. In addition to the clinical and administrative tasks, the Endocrine CNC collaborates closely with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to manage patients comprehensively. This collaboration extends beyond direct nursing duties to include coordinating patient care plans, particularly for patients with complex care needs. The CNC conducts procedures and oversees the treatment process, working in tandem with physicians to ensure required treatment is provided. Experience and Qualifications Required The successful applicant will receive a very supportive and comprehensive handover, prior to the leave cover.
