The Opportunity
The Quality Officer – Food Safety oversees raw material quality control, plant hygiene, and food safety compliance at the Marleston site, ensuring adherence to specifications through daily sampling, assessment, and use of SAP for material management. The role involves conducting analytical laboratory work and sensory evaluations to maintain standards.
The Accountabilities
1. Administer site raw material control and release program: Conduct inspections, sampling, testing, and manage raw material release/detainment in SAP, ensuring comprehensive record keeping and timely communication of non-conforming materials' impact on manufacturing.
2. Support site sanitation agenda: Assist with Environmental Monitoring Program, cleaning validation, verification, and water testing to mitigate allergen and pathogen risks effectively.
3. Manage Quality Notifications: Initiate and follow up with suppliers to ensure corrective and preventive actions are promptly implemented.
4. Ensure compliance and support food safety management system: Uphold SQF standards, Gluten Free requirements, and internal audit programs to maintain high food safety standards.
5. Maintain laboratory and safety standards: Organize laboratory areas, conduct safety audits, perform equipment calibration, and participate in NPD, CI, or Quality projects to enhance operational efficiencies and continuous improvement.
The Ingredients for Success
Just like you can’t make a Tim Tam without chocolate, there are a few essential ingredients we need for this role:
6. Tertiary qualification in food science, microbiology, or related field, or equivalent experience in a quality function within food manufacturing.
7. Minimum 2 years of technical experience in the food manufacturing industry.
8. Familiarity with SAP and completion of an external HACCP training course preferred.
9. Strong investigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
10. Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to influence, and experience with HACCP systems, GMP, Quality Management Systems, and SQF Standard
