Our client is a leading global manufacturer within the defence sector. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join their team at the state-of-the-art automated manufacturing facility in the western side of Melbourne.As the primary site Control Systems Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:Lead in-house control system upgrade projects, including management and coordination of external providers.Support third-party contractors with larger plant upgrades, including ensuring consistent application of site standards across all projects.Participate in breakdown rectification activities and maintenance program reviews, providing insight into the control systems architecture and program logic.Mentor production team engineers to enhance their ability to independently resolve equipment faults.Develop and implement standards and policies to ensure consistent and efficient work practices across the site.Provide guidance and oversight for all electrical equipment, installations, and compliance across the site.The successful candidate must have:A Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic or related discipline).5+ Years experience with automated manufacturing facilities.Proficiency in programming PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, including experience with communication buses/networks, and knowledge of associated industry standards and safety regulations. (Ideally Siemens PLCs).Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to execute business objectives and conflicting priorities.Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and/or projects.Strong problem-solving skills using root cause analysis tools.Advanced level in Word, Excel, and MS Project.Other desirable skills and experience include:Familiarity with Lean and 6 Sigma.Familiarity with Ignition SCADA.Experience working in a Defence environment.Experience working in hazardous environments or with dangerous goods storage and handling.Design & Build specializes in recruitment for the Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering & Property industries on a national basis.
