The opportunity
We’re seeking a driven and experienced Power Station Operator for our MW Power Station at our Cape Preston Operations. This is your chance to be part of something new and exciting in the Pilbara. This role will be on a permanent basis, 2/1 FIFO day shift roster FIFO from Perth to Cape Preston.
Reporting to the Supervisor – O&M, in this role you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Power Station and to coincide with the requirements of the site as well as the statutory requirements and CPM’s policies and procedures.
You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance. Seek improvements and initiate technical fault finding for the electrical power generation, distribution and transmission systems and processes to ensure delivery of consistent electrical power and ensuring the safe operation of our power station equipment and systems. You will be a self-starter, someone who enjoys a challenge, must have great communication skills and have a good understanding of computer-based control systems.
To be successful in the role you must have the following qualifications:
1. It is essential that you have at least 3 years power network operations and maintenance experience.
2. Candidates with trade qualifications (Electrical) will be looked upon most favourably,
3. Candidates with trade qualifications (preferably Steam Turbine Ticket and Boiler Intermediate Ticket) will be desirable also, as will candidates has experience to run the Steam Turbine and Boiler / HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator).
4. Experience in power equipment operations, maintenance and testing. Including sound knowledge of in operational and isolation procedures
5. Sound understanding of power system protection equipment and its operation.
6. SAP Maintenance Management System experience is desirable.
7. A current WA Manual Drivers licence is an essential requirement
In addition you will perform maintenance, improvements and technical fault finding.
