* Analysis, interpretation and reporting results in all areas of haematology, biochemistry and transfusion
* Startup, maintenance and troubleshooting of all analysers
* Interpretation and review of QC and QA samples
* Timely provision of results to clients and medical practitioners
* Administrative duties including answering phone calls, scanning, faxing, filing as directed
* Cleaning duties and compliance with WHS standards in a modern laboratory
* Rostered hours will include day shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays, as well as participation in the on-call/after hours roster
* Specimen reception and distribution duties within the SRA department
* Processing and reporting urgent microbiology samples
Selection Criteria:
* Appropriately qualified with a Degree in Applied Science (MLS), Biomedical Science or recognised equivalent.
* Ability to act independently and within established guidelines, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and sound judgement.
* A keen eye for detail and exceptional accuracy in data transfer operations.
* High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new laboratory information systems.
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an understanding of quality control and quality assurance.
* Experience in operating and troubleshooting modern automated technology would be an advantage.
* Commitment to continuing professional development, education and training.
* Must have the ability to permanently live and work in Australia at the time of application.
* Must have an unrestricted Australian driver's licence.
