Position Vacancy We are currently seeking applications for a Machinist (Mechanical) Tradesperson to join our team across Wilmar's Herbert mills. This position is a regional role and will service both Victoria Mill and Macknade Mill in Ingham. This permanent position is primarily daywork with overtime and some weekend work required. The role will involve leading and training our machine shop employees while manufacturing and modifying parts to maintain the equipment in our factories. You will need knowledge across a variety of machines and materials along with a passion to share knowledge and grow the skills of our apprentices. Main Duties Include, but are not limited to: Completing precision mechanical measurements. Operating manual lathes. Interpreting technical drawings for component specifications. Following and complying with all service quality and safety standards, procedures, and regulations. Performing work safely and in compliance with procedures. Undertaking preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on a variety of equipment. Planning, organizing, and completing work to the required standard and cost within the designated timeframe. Assisting in the training of apprentices/trainees and other trades and workers in our machine shop. Ensuring work orders and related permits are completed correctly. The successful candidate will need to possess a passion for precision work and be an inspiring leader capable of guiding our team to success. To be successful in the machinist role with Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you will need: Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical Trade - Fitting and Machining). Experience with milling machines. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude. Demonstrated ability in fault finding and problem solving.
