The Role
Reporting directly to the Cluster Director of Sales, The Cluster Business Development Manager is responsible for achieving outbound call, new account, and opportunity generation goals of the Sales Office, by implementing initiatives and proactively sourcing new business. A key focus of the job is to call potential new accounts and re-solicit past business to achieve and/or exceed targeted business development activity and opportunity development objectives. This position supports Marriott’s Sales & Marketing vision and drives customer loyalty and by delivering excellent customer service as the initial point of contact, with each customer interaction.
This cluster role will find you working to support both Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands & AC by Marriott Melbourne Southbank.
Position Summary:
1. Proactively solicit new accounts and new business opportunities in MICE and corporate market segments
2. Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and potential clients through regular communication and networking.
3. Understand and actively utilize company marketing initiative/incentives to convert cold leads to warm leads.
4. Effectively presents market hotel benefits and features based on customer needs.
5. Utilizes negotiation skills and creative selling abilities to uncover new business.
6. Utilize digital marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, and online advertising, to reach target audiences effectively.
7. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve property’s objectives whilst consistently analysing market information.
8. Support the hotel’s service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by engaging and connecting with new customers.
9. Support Director of Sales in preparation of regular reports on sales performance, including reporting on KPI target results, market trends, and competitor activities for management review.
10. Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
11. Attend a range of industry networking events and create memorable experiences for new customers on-property.
About You:
12. You are a proactive individual who is results orientated.
13. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
14. Ability to work autonomously
15. Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office
16. Ability to leverage business intelligence from Sales & Marketing Planning and Support and from third-party data sources to generate leads.
17. Proven experience within a high performing sales department within the hotel and events sector.
18. Experience in a similar managerial role
19. Ability to engage with a range of businesses and a variety of professionals through building relationships and a network of trust
20. Self-motivated, driven and energized in a fast-paced environment.
21. Working knowledge of the key intermediaries in the MICE and Corporate sectors in international, interstate and local regions.
