About the Role
As a Senior Lawyer in Corporate Legal, you will play an important role as a key member of the Corporate Legal team. This is an opportunity to join a high performing and collaborative team that supports Group M&A in playing a pivotal role in setting the strategic agenda of one of Australia’s leading financial institutions.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Lawyer, you will:
1. Work as a key team member across the life cycle of M&A transactions.
2. Provide commercial legal advice with a solutions-focussed approach.
3. Work with both internal stakeholders across multiple streams within ANZ as well as external advisers.
4. Convey key messages concisely and provide advice that is technically legally correct, with attention to detail.
5. Prepare papers for senior management and Board.
6. Ensure stakeholder deadlines are achieved or effectively managed.
7. Work on adjacent projects or requests for assistance from the business.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
8. A law degree and be admitted to practice in Victoria (a ‘must have’).
9. 6-7 years post qualification experience with a law firm or equivalent in-house experience in a corporate environment.
10. Experience in M&A transactions (regulated and unregulated) and/or joint ventures.
11. Experience in negotiating transactions, as well as experience in identifying and solving legal issues likely to arise.
12. Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong drafting skills.
13. Experience in ensuring deadlines for stakeholders are achieved or effectively managed.
14. An ability to work at pace on key legal aspects of transactions.
15. An understanding of regulatory issues relevant to M&A transactions (including Corporations Act, Listing Rules, and general governance).
