About the role
The Boilermaker / Welder is required to conduct fabrication and welding duties on time, in full and to standard, while striving for continuous improvement. The Boilermaker/ Welder is responsible for keeping themselves and their colleagues safe as well as maintaining a clean, tidy, and productive work environment.
Key objectives & responsibilities include:
Conduct fabrication and welding/boilermaker duties as directed.
Understand and accept the assigned task.
Ownership and respect for tools and equipment.
Completing assigned tasks in full and to the required standard.
During periods of reduced trade specific works, assist in other trade-based sectors of the business as reasonably directed.
Completing works within the required time frames and, if unachievable, informing Supervisor immediately.
Understanding, accepting, and delivering the quality standards.
Improving the quality standard.
Understand, implement, and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures relating to HSEQ.
Hold self and workmates accountable to HSEQ standards.
Promoting a ‘safety first’ culture.
Improving HSEQ performance.
Ensuring good housekeeping is practiced.
Holding self and others accountable to the standards.
Improving the standard.
Reduce waste in all its forms.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
Essential
Hold a Construction safety induction (white card).
Trade qualification – Welder / Fabricator, Boat builder or Boilermaker.
Previous experience in Boilermaking/ Welding in heavy industry.
Able to attain welding qualifications to Survey Body level standard.
Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner.
Demonstrate adequate theoretical knowledge.
Ability to use standard tools and equipment related to the trade.
Possess good time management skills and ability to meet set targets.
Desirable
Previous experience in Boilermaking/ Welding in the Marine Repair industry.
First Aid, EWP and Forklift Certification.
Previous experience in Defence / Government.

38 hours per week 8 hours Monday - Thursday with 6 hours on a Friday
