Peer Support Worker | Housing Support (STAY) ProgramJob Description:Permanent part time opportunity, 19 hours per weekPeer Support / Lived Experience WorkerFriendly & supportive team at Clarendon Clinic - East Melbourne locationAbout the RoleYou will develop and implement strategies that support tenants of public housing requiring mental health and drug and alcohol support and intervention, to engage with STAY, and to connect with community, referral and other health supports.You will provide peer support to consumers who are part of the program, as well as offering a lived experience perspective to the clinical staff and housing services that consult with us. You are highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic and feel comfortable working in a ‘non-traditional’ mental health role. You will be able to apply your lived experience and peer support skills to the support and recovery of others.Work within the Strengths Model of recovery orientated practiceBuild a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and family/carers and actively engage them in peer supportWork within a Community Development and consultation framework, advising from a lived experience perspective.Contribute to the development and delivery of tenants support and referral plans through effective engagement and connectionWork with a multidisciplinary team, and build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external health professionalsYour ContributionA lived experience of mental illnessA minimum of at least 3 years of experience working within the Mental Health sectorCurrent Victorian driver’s licenseA valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtainTertiary qualifications are desirableWhat We OfferA focus on wellbeing initiatives, with regular events and programsConfidential, solutions-focused employee counsellingA healthy work/life balance encouraged.
