The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) provides world-leading independent forensic medical and scientific expertise to the justice system, tissue for transplantation and conducts teaching and research in forensic medicine and science.
Our Role
We provide the justice system with crucial evidence that underpins safe convictions and appropriate acquittals. Our doctors and scientists investigate deaths reported to the Coroner, examine alleged offenders and medically assess and support victims of crime.
Our Medical and Scientific Staff
Our medical and scientific staff members undertake research that directly contributes to public health and safety and the just working of our legal system. By contributing to the professional development and education of forensic pathologists, physicians, and scientists, we ensure a high standard of forensic medical services for Victoria and provide critical support for our healthcare and justice systems.
About the Job
This role involves working closely with external stakeholders and our team of highly specialised technicians. You will be rewarded in the knowledge that the support you provide directly contributes to life-saving outcomes within the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispatching orders
* Record keeping
* Liaising with stakeholders
* Assisting the team with the storage of donor tissue
* Supporting the maintenance of equipment and cleanroom facility
About You
You are a detail-oriented and well-organised individual who thrives in a highly demanding environment. You are knowledgeable about Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) procedures and protocols. You enjoy engaging with a wide range of people and achieving results.
Key Qualifications and Attributes
* VCE (or equivalent) qualification including science
* Strong organisation skills
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience working in a lab or similar setting
* Pharma manufacturing experience would be highly regarded
