At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.This project (The Wildlife Observatory of Australia - A national wildlife camera data processing infrastructure, hereafter referred to as WildObs) will work towards the long-term vision by providing the component infrastructures for wildlife camera data, while working with the acoustic community on standardisation. WildObs will serve as a purpose-built analysis platform and a data commons for wildlife camera data.Key responsibilities will include: Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area (quantitative ecology)Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets using R and conduct hierarchical occupancy and abundance modelling.An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.Experience curating, managing, and analysing large complicated datasetsEvidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.Some experience in meaningful service roles and coordination among stakeholdersThe successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and education check.
