The Total Portfolio team
The Total Portfolio team is a central team within Investment Strategy.
Aware's total portfolio approach is a collaborative and informed approach to making investment trade-offs with clear accountabilities.
The team collaborates with all sector teams including Infrastructure, Property, Private Equity, Credit Income, Fixed Income and Public Market Equities.
We are looking for an analyst with up to two years' experience and a desire to work in a fast-paced team environment to help us deliver excellent outcomes for members.
Responsibilities:
The strategic asset allocation of Aware's investment options, including capital market assumptions, competitive considerations, portfolio construction, and scenario analysis.
The evolution of the decision-making frameworks that inform and enable Aware's total portfolio approach across our investment options.
Option-level management decisions such as foreign exchange settings and liquidity profiles.
We aim to be the top-performing fund over a range of metrics.
Our analysis and data-driven decision making is supported by a range of statistical and simulation techniques, forecasting methods, and increasingly AI.

Your New Role
In this role of Investment Analyst, you will support and contribute to the following:
Formulation of the investment strategies for the Fund's diversified investment options.
Data-driven total portfolio insights and decisions.
Total portfolio approach.
Collaboration on projects with the broader Investment team and other business functions.
Some of your key accountabilities include:
Enhancing portfolio analytics and processes.
Contributing to the development of capital market assumptions.
Statistical modelling of time-series and cross-sectional data to support decision making.
Developing deep knowledge of source data and assisting with database design and management.
Effective collaboration with sector teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the total portfolio.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
Necessary
Either (i) an advanced degree majoring in Finance, Business Analytics, Economics; OR (ii) an advanced degree majoring in Mathematics with a focus on portfolio theory, optimisation, and risk analysis.
Strong academic transcript, especially in relevant subjects.
Strong understanding of financial modelling, statistics, and quantitative measures of risk.
0-2 years' experience.
Strong coding capabilities and interests (Matlab, Python, or R).
Basic understanding of asset classes and investment management practices.
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
A positive and curious approach to investments and risk.
Not necessary but considered a plus
Industry designation or working towards this (e.g., CFA, CAIA) is a plus.
Some experience in funds management, consulting, or superannuation is a plus.
A relevant honours year or doctorate is a plus.
