Kentish and Latrobe Councils have an exciting opportunity for a Roads & Drainage Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Assets team. Position Information Latrobe and Kentish Councils are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Roads and Drainage Project Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, developing, implementing, and overseeing projects to enhance and maintain our road and drainage infrastructure. You will ensure these projects are safe, sustainable, and provide strategic benefits, contributing to the overall improvement of our civil infrastructure assets. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about infrastructure, possesses strong project management skills, and excels in a collaborative environment. A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently are essential for success in this role. Key responsibilities are to: Concurrently manage new, improvement and renewal projects relating to roads and drainage from inception to completion including projects identified within the Capital Works Program for both municipalities in order to improve Councils asset stock. Actively seek and manage external funding opportunities to keep councils roads and drainage infrastructure in a safe and appropriate standard relative to their intended use and in support of Council's strategic plan. Ensure assigned projects are adequately coordinated with all stakeholders throughout their duration, including other staff, consultants, contractors, regular reporting requirements, funding providers, user groups, elected members and the community. Selection Criteria Qualifications and Licences Up to a degree qualification in asset and/or project management, or a related field, or working towards a qualification, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role, OR an equivalent combination of skills, experience, and training. A current C class driver's license. Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Experience managing projects of various types including the assessment of value and return on investment advice. Demonstrated capacity to simultaneously manage projects related to roads and drainage including new builds and renovation works and deliver on time and within budget. Sound understanding of the relevant codes and legislation. Experience in directing and leading people to communicate Council needs and deliver on work requirements. Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and accountabilities. A willingness and ability to learn and succeed. Proven high level of attention to detail, accountability for work and self-motivation. Well-developed computer skills and experience in a range of software. Sound knowledge of the work health and safety legislation, regulations and practical application of it in a works environment.
