Position Summary
The primary role of the Senior Animator is to lead in the conceptualization, and development of animation and motion graphics content for games working in collaboration with the Creative Director, Game Producer, Art team leads. This will include developing new tools to further the efficiency of animation with the team. They will provide guidance and support with animation tasks within the team and participate in determining various aesthetic solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ability to create captivating video sequences from brief to completion, that align with existing branding and style guides to elevate the company’s visual content and enhance the company product.
2. Keen eye for visual layouts and composition.
3. Strong attention to detail and to self-check work for errors.
4. Ability to work to tight deadlines when required.
5. Develop character, prop, symbol, text and UI animations using digital 2D, 3D, and motion design techniques for Electronic Gaming Machine products.
6. Liaise with team members to produce animation work to ensure the artistic integrity and quality of assets.
7. Assist the Graphics Team Lead in providing mentorship and training in new tools and techniques to the team.
8. Help to identify and solve animation process and implementation issues.
9. Contribute to a range of deliverables that are within the EGM studio team, such as other graphic tasks, marketing assets, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
10. Strong understanding of the requirements of animation within the Gaming industry, and traditional animation principles.
11. A critical eye for detail and ability to follow/maintain stringent guidelines.
12. Strong graphic design and typography skills within the adobe suite.
13. Character animation skills in Spine, After Effects and 3D software preferred.
14. Experience working with Unity game engine advantageous.
15. Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
16. Technical and creative problem solving with a can-do mindset.
17. Gaming industry/related experience preferred.
Experience, Education and Qualification:
18. 5+ yrs. experience working in an animation capacity, preferably within a game development studio.
19. Extensive training/experience in the use of digital art and animation software, including After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, Spine, Maya, 3DS Max, or similar.
20. Expert knowledge in all tasks related to both traditional and 3D animation, including character animation, modelling, rigging, lighting, and texturing, as well as particle systems and motion graphics development.
21. Employment will also require sound traditional art skills.
Working Conditions:
22. The work conditions are representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. Work on short-term assignments that often require the application of independent judgment. Utilize video software, such as Adobe After Effects to create captivating motion graphics.
23. Convenient hybrid working model – 3 days working in the office, 2 days working from home.
