Medical Scientist - Core Laboratory (510292)Department of HealthHospitals & Primary Care - Hospitals SthHospitals Sth - CCCS&IApplications must be submitted by Sunday 06 April, 2025 11:55 PM AESTAward/Classification:Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement, Allied Health Professional, Level 1-2Employment type:Full TimeRegion:SouthLocation:The Department of Health is seeking applications for a permanent full-time Medical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Core Laboratory team at the Royal Hobart Hospital.The Role:The Medical Scientist:Primarily works within the Core Laboratory which provides a 24-hour, 7 days a week diagnostic service in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Bank.Works across all areas of this multidisciplinary laboratory, acts as a sole scientist on the out-of-hours roster, and participates in the emergency on-call roster.Duties:Perform the analyses of clinical samples required for the provision of routine and out-of-hours service.Perform routine and specialised tests in the area of Pathology testing with accurate documentation of results and reports.Follow guidelines in reporting results, including telephoning urgent and critical results.Assist in the maintenance of procedures, equipment, quality control, and supplies of consumables to ensure an uninterrupted service.The Team:The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Department of Pathology within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for many specialised testing services. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.Details of Appointment:Permanent full-time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies.Salary:$77,737 - $111,364 per annum.
