The role
Our vision is to provide excellent healthcare to a vulnerable group of young people who are often disengaged with health services in the wider community.
Staff are subject to security and safety requirements of Cleveland Youth Detention Centre. To enable the provision of Health Services to children in Queensland Youth Detention Centres a Memorandum of Understanding is in place between Queensland Health, Hospital and Health Services (HHS) and Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training (DYJESBT) and is represented by the Queensland Health, Nurse Unit Manager and DYJESBT Executive Director.
Cleveland Youth Detention Medical Centre (CYD Medical Centre) is part of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service and is located in the suburb of Belgian Gardens, approximately 10km from the Townsville University Hospital.
Employment Term
1. Permanent part-time, 28 hours per fortnight.

2. Salary rates between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (NG6-1)

Role requirements
6. Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
7. Highly Desirable :
8. Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
9. Shift Workers : Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in weekend, night and 12 hour shifts.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
10. Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
11. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
12. Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
13. Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
14. Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
