Job DescriptionYour role as an Accountant As the Accountant you play an essential supporting role within the finance department at Centacare NENW. Your primary responsibility is to assist in the day-to-day financial operations and maintain accurate records, ensuring the integrity of financial data and taxation compliance. You play a key supporting role in the preparation of Centacare NENW's annual budgets and forecasts.
Key accountabilities includeData Entry and Record-Keeping: Responsibility for accurately recording financial transactions in the accounting system. This includes posting journal entries, recording expenses, revenue, and updating ledgers.Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track expenses, and prepare payments to vendors (Accounts Payable). For Accounts Receivable, track and process incoming payments from customers, ensuring timely receipts.Assisting with Month-End and Year-End Close Processes: Support the Senior Manager Finance to prepare and organise documents needed for month-end and year-end financial closing. Generate reports, verify account balances, and prepare necessary adjustments.Expense Reporting: Assist to process employee expense reports by reviewing receipts, ensuring compliance with the company's policies, and processing reimbursements.Assisting with Financial Reporting: Prepare preliminary financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, under the supervision of the Senior Manager Finance.Maintaining Financial Documents: Organise, file, and maintain physical or digital financial documents, ensuring they are stored properly and easily accessible for audits or future reference.Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Manager Finance to develop annual budgets and annual forecasts.Desired Skills and Experience Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Accountancy.Eligibility to enrol in the Chartered Accountant or the Certified Practicing Accountant program and the commitment to complete your selected program.Ability to use analytical tools and models to understand and measure the performance of the organisation.High level of integrity, maturity and initiative, with the ability handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary for clear and effective interaction with employees at all levels.Advanced computer skills in MS Office suite and ability learn new systems and applications, including finance software.Adaptability to changing circumstances and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.About Centacare Since 2001, Centacare, a Social Services Agency of the Catholic Diocese of Armidale, has been a vital part of the local community.
