The Food Services Manager is responsible for executing all food services at Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. This is a fixed-term full time Monday to Friday position until 29 August 2025, based at our Clayton site. You’ll manage a significant operational budget and lead the food services team effectively. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, and working closely with Site leadership teams, as well as other Food Services managers from other Monash Health sites, you’ll ensure the Food Services meet the needs of each of these hospitals located on the one site. In this important role, you will be responsible for: Providing support and leadership to the Food Services team Achieving and maintaining the highest standards in food safety Leading our services in our pursuit of exceptional patient and employee experiences Working closely with departmental leads and teams to drive service excellence Overall department performance including leading a team and managing a budget About Us Our Support Services team provides a range of essential non-clinical services that help our hospitals run. We provide food services, central production kitchen, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, you’ll be part of Monash Health’s Support Services team, supported by a broader team of People and Culture & Finance business partners, as well as the team of Food Services Managers across multiples sites. About You Working closely with Nurse Managers, Dietitians, Departmental Leads and other Food Services Managers, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: A history of successful team management and stakeholder engagement Outstanding communication skills Demonstrated skills managing competing demands while delivering services within tight timeframes Demonstrated success in change management and service improvement On a personal level, you will demonstrate: An understanding of excellent customer service A collaborative approach and an ability to cohesively work with all users of the Hospital A passion for providing exceptional patient and employee experiences An ability to problem solve and achieve positive outcomes for all stakeholders Additionally, you thrive working in a dynamic, continuous improvement customer driven environment. You bring demonstrated leadership expertise and thrive leading your team by example with a highly consultative and inclusive leadership style. You have also successfully managed projects and whilst previous food service experience is desirable, it is not essential. Mandatory requirements of the role : Experienced managing a large commercial kitchen operation ideally in a Health Care environment. Proven experience managing a large team. Certificate Food Safety Supervisor Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable) Further qualifications in HACCP procedures and quality management systems (desirable) Excellent writing skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare reports, using clear, concise language, organise information into a logical sequence and include content appropriate for the purpose and audience Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organisation Positive attitude and motivational approach in facilitating change and adopting new concepts Focused on providing quality, patient-centred services by working with our stakeholders and exceeding both consumer and employee expectations.
