High School Science Laboratory Technician High School Science Laboratory Technician - Noosa Christian College. Adventist Schools (South Queensland) Ltd is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at Noosa Christian College. An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, passionate, organised person who is happy to be part of current team. This position is a part-time fixed term position commencing on 20th January 2025. Noosa Christian College is a K-12 school situated in the Cooroy hinterland within a rural setting of 11.4 ha. The College provides a family atmosphere where students have a close and supportive contact with their teachers and peers. Students are provided with an education that is personal, nurturing and targeted towards developing their individual abilities. The position available is for two days per week (or equivalent) during school term weeks. The role of the Science Laboratory Technician encompasses activities within the following areas: Advising on the safety of experiments and maintaining safety equipment (goggles, eyewash, fire blankets) including chemicals and biological supplies. Maintaining fume cupboard servicing and inspection. Maintaining a safe chemical/storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations. Compiling, maintaining and updating safety data sheets and hazard register. Managing the labelling, storage, stocktaking and ordering of equipment, consumables and chemicals. Making up solutions and assembling apparatus. Cleaning and maintaining science prep area and simple laboratory apparatus/equipment. Assisting with preparing risk assessments in relation to science experiments. Preparing and organising materials and equipment for teacher practical requests. Caring for plants and/or animals, where appropriate. Providing technical support to experienced and trainee teachers including health and safety guidelines. Requirements for this role: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and punctuality. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues. Must hold a current Blue Card or be eligible to hold a Blue Card. Previous experience in an educational institution or similar industry would be an advantage. The person must have a strong commitment to Christian values and be prepared to support the ideals and beliefs of Adventist Education.
