This pivotal role involves coordinating the development, implementation and monitoring of business line safety; driving improvement plans which integrate relevant HANZ Strategic Safety Initiatives; coaching business line senior managers in safety leadership and risk reduction techniques and supporting each of our levels of management to ensure they know and understand their accountabilities for Safety & Health. You will monitor and assess the business line's safety and health performance; analyse and report on emerging safety & health issues and advise senior management on future direction.You will also provide strategic leadership, support and accountability across the organisation, ensuring the integration of fit-for-purpose systems and robust auditing processes that instil confidence at all levels-from line leaders to the Board and Executive Committee (ExCo).Further and detailed responsibilities are found in the Position Description which is available upon request and will include:Leading the changes associated with the organisational review within the BU - supporting and communicating change to the advisors and understanding the role of the central functions.Assisting and coaching BU line managers to understand the new structure and their responsibilities in leading safety.Balancing the demands on shared Safety Advisors.Proactively looking for efficiencies in the safety area to simplify and declutter line and safety roles.Leading in conjunction with the EGM and BU management team the implementation of the safety strategy.Working with the National Health and Safety Manager to develop and bed down the central safety structure.In consultation with Business Line Senior Managers designing and developing Safety Improvement Plans.Coaching, advising and supporting the business unit executive team to deliver their safety outcomes.Coaching, advising and supporting safety advisors to deliver accurate, informed and legally compliant safety advice to line management.Providing feedback to the executive about the status of "line leadership around safety" with the aim of recognising and learning from BU safety leaders and identifying early issues with site leadership of safety.Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business and providing advice as required to manage organizational risk.Ensuring that the SHE management system is well understood and compliance is achieved across the business.Ensuring the business has information about levels of compliance including close out performance, using this information to drive a close out culture in conjunction with the BU leadership team.Acting as a conduit between the SHE functional center into the business.Proactively monitoring and analysing business practices and safety results to identify safety performance gaps and provide feedback to line management.Participating in and/or leading National SHE projects as required.Ensuring strong relationships are developed and maintained with key stakeholders, both internal and external.Ensuring the relationships between line management and SHE professionals within the business are collaborative and are functioning in a way which facilitates Holcim Australia's zero harm goals.About you:To excel in this role, you will have:Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (preferred).Credible experience in senior safety management roles in similar or related industry sectors.Experience in complex, multi-site organisations in high-risk industries.Solid experience in the H&S area at both strategic and operational levels.Experience implementing strategy within large and complex H&S functions.Experience in successfully leading a senior team with a demonstrated track record of success.Advanced consultation and negotiation skills.Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills.Proven ability to lead change initiatives.Experienced in working within a fluid environment with rapidly changing priorities.Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence a range of stakeholders both internal and external.Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to continually enhance team performance and capability through setting clear performance objectives, conducting coaching conversations and driving personal ownership and accountability.High proficiency in Word and Excel, capability to learn and use new computer programs, medium proficiency in PowerPoint.You will thrive on engendering solid business relationships and be level-headed and down to earth with exemplary standards of ethical conduct and professional judgment with a positive, resilient, curious and goal-oriented nature.
