Fixed-term, full-time position available for 3 years. We are seeking a Technical Officer to play a key role in advancing understanding of parasitic diseases through innovative animal models, genetic manipulation, and in vitro cultivation of the single celled parasites Cryptosporidium and Plasmodium. The Technical Officer in the School of Biological Sciences will help in establishment and maintenance of an animal model for Cryptosporidium infection as well as undertake in vitro cultivation and genetic manipulation of Cryptosporidium and malaria parasites.
On the job training for culture of these parasites will be provided.
The Technical Officer will provide support and training for other lab members in these models, contribute to management of laboratory resources and maintain a high standard of record keeping.
This role will work across the research groups of Dr Benjamin Liffner and Associate Professor Danny Wilson, whose research programs include (but are not limited to) gene-editing, microscopy, proteomics and in vitro assays, based at the University North Terrace campus.
To be successful you will need: Ability to work independently and contribute to research projects with effective design and development.Communication and time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve outcomes.Strong data management skills and the ability to provide written reports to support Laboratory management and research outputs.Ability to work closely with industry and research collaborators.Experience in experimental rodent models of disease.Click on the 'Apply Now' button to be taken through to the online application form.
