Your Opportunity:
* Undertake research and develop responses to significant initiatives, issues and risks impacting on the future direction of the organisation.
* Develop and effectively communicate high level strategic advice to tactically position the agency in a range of settings by assessing strategic issues and developing policy and research advice to enable quality executive decision making.
Your Role:
Responsibilities include:
* Lead and develop major briefings, reports and submissions including key departmental Cabinet submissions.
* Identify, analyse and progress strategic issues and formulate innovative and workable solutions and strategic authoritative advice based on evidence for the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, Policy Performance and Planning and other senior managers.
* Provide executive support to senior management by preparing major policy papers, briefings, reports, and submissions (including Cabinet submissions).
* Understand the strategic objectives of the department and develop work plans and formulate innovative and workable policy options and solutions.
* Lead and manage project and programs providing direction, guidance and technical assistance to teams involved across the department.
* Lead the development of initiatives for the branch which incorporate governance, strategic and operational planning, portfolio, program and project management, reporting, performance and risk management.
* Achieve a strong client service focus for all branch activities by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with departmental business units and stakeholders, negotiate effectively across government and with stakeholders, in the context of supporting the department's objectives and desired outcomes.
* Represent the department and coordinate the department's contribution to a range of internal and external forums, operating in a professional manner and confidently present written and oral messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
* Provide executive support to key departmental committees and lead significant projects to contribute to the future direction of the organisation.
* Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
