Northern Star Resources are currently seeking an energized and influential Health & Safety Superintendent to join the Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Training (HSSET) Department at the KCGM Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. The primary role of the Health & Safety Superintendent is to maintain safety and health management systems and processes.
Working a 10-hour day on a 5:2, 4:3 roster, this permanent, full-time, Kalgoorlie-based residential role, allows for great work-life balance, and an optimal lifestyle in the Goldfields.
Key Accountabilities: Develop annual Safety Improvement Plans (SIP) incorporating legislative requirements, Company objectives, standards, policies, and measures.Maintain incident response and investigation systems.Manage site occupational health & hygiene requirements, promoting health across site.Ensure statutory reporting requirements are fulfilled.Ensure injury management procedures are implemented to achieve a safe, early return to work by injured employees.Reporting and analysis of all incidents with a view to corrective and preventive actions aimed at preventing or significantly reducing reoccurrence.Continually revise and maintain site safety management system including standards, plans, and procedures. Wherever practicable work to simplify and streamline the documents with the end user in mind.Develop and implement an appropriate internal audit and review process for the site's key Critical Risks and Contract Partners.Monitor quality of Site Critical Risk Management activities including Manager Verifications and Supervisor Verifications. Provide management reports weekly and monthly for the Site Leadership Team.Monitor and audit incident reporting and investigations and provide feedback loop to manager in relation to performance.Review incident data, conduct analysis and identify trends, issues, and opportunities to improve safety performance across the site.Requirements: Qualifications Required: Recognised tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety.Desired Experience & Competencies: Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the mining industry.Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.Familiarity with INX database modules such as InControl.Experience in incident investigation and reporting.Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing, and database applications.Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.Strong report writing and presentation skills.Able to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard.If you have a strong commitment to health and safety and a continuous improvement culture, are able to think and act strategically and have a strong desire to motivate and support others to achieve personal and professional goals, apply NOW!
