People Division, led by the Chief People Officer (CPO), provides human resources (HR) functions for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the department) with a clear focus on the department’s most valued asset: its staff.
Alongside contemporary HR functions, projects and strategies, People Division is also responsible for:
o Enhancing the department’s focus on safety.
o Enterprise bargaining.
o Cultural and change management.
o The department’s response to Australian Public Service (APS) reforms.
The People Branch is responsible for the department’s strategic and operational focused human resources (HR) advice, strategies and support services, with a focus on enabling business areas to meet their workforce needs. The People Branch is responsible for:

The Recruitment and Employment Programs Section manages the department’s recruitment functions and delivery of entry level programs. We support the department to deliver efficient, nationally consistent and best practice recruitment in a high volume, fast-paced environment with excellent judgement and customer service skills. Our focus is the delivery of high-quality end-to-end recruitment services and entry level programs.
We support the department to achieve its strategic outcomes by providing a range of client-focused advice and essential services. We do this through building and sustaining a workplace culture of inclusivity, integrity and professionalism, reflective of a modern and responsive public service. The Job
The APS5 Recruitment Advisor role in the Recruitment Operations team works across the branch and wider business areas to attract, retain and develop the right people for the right jobs at the right time.
The Recruitment team is responsible for the administration of all internal and external recruitment activities including advertising, management of the recruitment system (eRecruit) and actioning outcomes of selection exercises.
We provide support to hiring managers by advertising external jobs and internal expressions of interest; managing the shared inbox; issuing letters of offer; supporting the coordination of bulk recruitment activities; and actioning recruitment requests in eRecruit.
The team works in a fast-paced collaborative environment with a high-volume workload, where attention to detail and customer service skills are key to their success.
As a member of the team, you will exercise initiative and professional judgement in all aspects of your role, especially in the interpretation of policy and application of procedures.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
o Providing accurate advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management.
o Contributing to short and long-term outcomes of the Recruitment & Employment Programs Section.
o Effectively managing your workload under limited guidance.
o Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive customer outcomes, including contributing to the management of the shared inbox.
o Effectively completing operational recruitment tasks as directed by the Team Leaders.
o Exercising judgement to make decisions governed by the application of rules, regulations, best practice principles and procedures, under the support and general direction of the Team Leaders.
o Facilitating recruitment consultations with business areas to inform them of best practice.
o Updating recruitment material as necessary i.e. guidance documents, Standard Operating Procedures, templates, intranet content etc.
o Contributing to recruitment strategies, policies and continuous improvement of processes, systems and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and APS policy and practices.

Desirable Qualifications
o Relevant HR qualifications and experience is desirable.
Eligibility and other requirements
o Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
o Security Clearance - this position requires a Baseline security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
o Pre-employment checks - your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period.
