About the role
AGL is looking for x2 Health & Safety Advisors to provision specialist health and safety advice and drive safe work practices at our Torrens Island and Liddell Power Station transition works. The roles will focus on H&S for demolition works, hazardous material removal, site transition, collaborating with employees, supervisors and contractors to ensure projects are completed with safety being a key driver.
What you’ll be doing
* Engage with the HSE team to develop and communicate AGL's HSE Strategy, focusing on continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with business units, share insights, propose solutions, and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
* Coach stakeholders in risk management, including safety interactions and environmental observations, to reduce health and safety risks.
* Demonstrate agile leadership and consistently demonstrate and display HSE leadership, company values leading others to do the same.
* Actively engage in and support the implementation of Health and Safety programs for AGL Asset Closure and Transition, as well as company-wide initiatives, to ensure the Business Unit complies with organizational standards.
* Perform risk management activities including risk assessments and critical control checks.
* Apply risk management principles proactively and identify improvement opportunities to enhance safety practices and reduce high-risk activities, thereby minimizing risk.
* Aid in conducting incident investigations to find root causes and set preventative measures, as well as coaching in developing investigation skills.
* Support and measure application of the HSE Contractor Management Framework through ongoing engagement with key business unit stakeholders.
* Aid in reporting health and safety incidents, hazards, and near misses and assist so they are handled in accordance with the HSE Incident Management and Reporting Procedure.
* Assist the business as necessary with organizing HSE contractor forums.
* Act in the best interests of AGL always and work together across the business to create the best overall results and decisions.
* Encourage the sharing of skills and experience and contribute to the success of the business at all levels, in a way that is vital and authentic.
What you’ll bring to the table
* Tertiary qualification in WHS (Certificate IV minimum)
* Minimum 7 years’ experience in Heavy Industrial, Construction/ Demolition and High-Risk Industries in a HSE capacity
* Interpersonal skills with high quality accurate written and verbal communication skills
* Proven people/stakeholder engagement skills
* Effective project management skills
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills
* Strong risk management skills
* Strong experience with Contractor management
