Tax Analyst - Sydney
As a Tax Analyst, you will report to the Global Head of Direct Tax to support direct and indirect tax compliance, and regulatory reporting in the APAC region.
You will work with the Global Head of Indirect Tax, Director of Financial Reporting, and the accounting and finance teams and external advisors to help Convera meet its compliance obligations.
You will work with a high level of collegiality, growing your technical knowledge of APAC taxes and awareness of global tax systems.

Responsibilities:
Work with the finance team to collate the information needed to prepare Convera's indirect and direct tax returns (e.g.
Income Tax, FBT, Withholding Tax etc.)
and preparation of monthly BAS / GST filings across the APAC region (e.g.
Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan).
Monitor and assist with tax payments and other tax administration adjacent to the monthly, quarterly, and annual VAT returns, and the annual direct tax returns.
Learn accounting systems across AR and AP and how to get tax specific information from them.
Support the development of tax compliance functionality.
Contribute to the implementation of ongoing systems development and improvements, and automated tools that impact tax compliance.
Help collate information relating to APAC tax audits and respond to notices from tax authorities.
Research tax technical issues.
Assist the global tax team with international tax considerations, forecasting and tax effect accounting for both US GAAP and IFRS.
Preparation of annual / quarterly business surveys for APAC entities.
Assistance with preparation of regulatory transactional returns for financial regulators in APAC countries.
Daily monitoring of cash position & calculation of net tangible buffer to comply with AFSL in AU / NZ.
You should apply if you have:
Familiarity with the accounting standards and a degree in Business Management / Finance / Accounting / Commerce or a related post degree qualification.
Minimum of 2-4 years of tax experience.
Experience in the financial services market would be useful.
Technical awareness of how Income Tax, GST, and withholding taxes work.
Knowledge of accounting principles particularly tax effect accounting and tax accruals.
Proficiency in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets and perform complex functions) to maximize the efficiency and accuracy of tax processes, reconciliations, and VAT return preparation.
High attention to detail to complete projects and meet deadlines.
Experience of Oracle and FCCS would be useful but not essential.
Good level of spoken and written business English.
Curiosity and commercial awareness - understand the connections between tax and business.
You must have existing unlimited working rights in Australia to be considered for this role.
