The saying goes at Greater Shepparton Secondary College (GSSC) that we are Greater Together! That is our families, staff and community all working together to support our young people, and our students leaning on these support networks to achieve their best.
Although we are a big school able to cater for more than 2,200 students, we have been able to retain a small school atmosphere through our House and Neighbourhood structure. Through this model, our students are able to feel a sense of Greater Belonging by having a house to call home.

Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated passion, commitment, knowledge and skills that provide highly effective support to the school community on matters relating to careers, career pathways, educational pathways and course/careers counselling.
SC2 Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team as well as being able to provide ongoing support and guidance to staff and students.
SC3 Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills; a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, employers, agencies and other staff.
SC4 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
SC5 High level capacity to perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school / DE Policy and the personal attributes required to do this work with limited supervision and guidance.
Role
The Careers Practitioner will ensure that they:
General
* Work closely with the Careers Manager to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of Careers and Pathways programs and collect evidence to monitor progress.
* Engage in the implementation of the Careers Plan 7-12.
* Support the rollout of Morrisby at Year 9 within the designated Neighbourhood.
* Play an active role in the organisation and delivery of Work Experience, Work Placement and Experiences of work Years 7-12.
* Assist Careers Manager in engaging students and parents in careers focused events/activities.
Neighbourhood role
* Work as a member of the designated Neighbourhood team.
* Attend Neighbourhood and Sub-School meetings.
* Participate in SSG’s as required by the Neighbourhood Principal, Sub-School Principal or House Leader.
* Work with House Leaders to identify students at risk and develop a case management response.
* Contribute to maintaining accurate Destination data by following college processes and procedures.
Counselling
* Conduct transition from school interviews as required.
* Support and promote Careers/Pathways connections across all areas of the curriculum.
* Provide training and support for ongoing use of Career Tools.
* Liaise with external organisations to maximise opportunities for students in Careers and Pathways.
Communication
* Contribute to effective Careers/Pathways communication through various channels.
* Contribute to the development of a Careers and Pathways events calendar for the year.
Other
* Completed Graduate Certificate Career Development Practice (or equivalent), be currently undertaking this qualification or be prepared to commence the study in 2025.
* Other duties as directed by the Principal.
Responsibilities
* Create a positive culture of belonging, care, high expectations and learning within the College.
* Work with the Careers Manager and Pathways Team to develop and deliver a Career program in line with the College goals.
* Attend and contribute to relevant Campus/College meetings and events.
* Adopt College teaching and learning practices in the classroom.
* Be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of Careers and Pathways activities at the College.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
