This multi-generational company specialises in producing superior seedstock for the beef and wool industries and is among the oldest and largest Merino and Angus cattle studs in Australia. They are leaders in measured performance and take pride in the quality and longevity of the animals they breed. Seedstock has been the family’s business for over 150 years.The property encompasses 12,000 acres of highly productive volcanic soils with an annual rainfall of 19 inches. They utilise a well-established pasture-based production system, growing grazing crops to support feed availability during winter. The company is well-equipped with modern machinery (all equipped with GPS), laneway systems, and a new set of proway sheep yards, ensuring efficiency while allowing the work to be done correctly. Additionally, there is a significant pasture renovation program in place, with silage and hay production carried out by contractors.In this role, you will work alongside the pasture and cropping overseer as well as the livestock manager. Your responsibilities will cover all aspects of cattle and sheep husbandry, including data recording, weighing calves at birth during winter, assisting with muscle scans, semen testing, pregnancy testing, artificial insemination (AI) programs. You will also assist with two on-property bull sales, ram sales, and field days. Your responsibilities will include property maintenance, infrastructure improvements, fencing, and machinery operation. A genuine passion for the agricultural industry is essential.
