Fremantle Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of motivated and enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistants (SNEA) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements prior to the end of Term 4, 2024.
We are seeking SNEA’s who hold an unconditional and positive regard for all students. In this role, you will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs developed by classroom teachers and the learning support coordinator. You will also assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations. When required, you will provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
As a SNEA you will ideally collaborate within a team, assisting communication between the teacher or therapist to ensure best results for the student. Being able to provide feedback to caregivers/parents as to the student’s progress is especially desirable. Furthermore, you will be required to collect resources and administrative documents; manage classroom resources or the storeroom by maintaining and updating inventory lists, monitoring stock levels and requirements, and submit requisitions to the teacher for approval. You will also be expected to ensure the safe and hygienic storage and handling of foodstuffs and food preparation utensils.

2. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
3. Good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
4. Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
5. Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
6. Ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
