Botanist (Graduate to Senior) Travers bushfire & ecology are looking for energetic flora specialists to join our in-demand ecological consulting services, working out of our Kariong office, NSW. An exciting opportunity for a full time botanist who is passionate about plant ecology and who has experience in the field of ecological consulting has opened up. We are seeking a botanist with minimum Science degree majoring in botanical study and preferably a Masters or Ph D in plant taxonomy or similar discipline. Key Competencies As a botanist with Travers bushfire & ecology you will have the necessary skills and experience to undertake the following: Field botanical survey using accepted industry methodologies to identify species, populations and/or vegetation communities Assist in the preparation of biodiversity offset assessments Accurately identify threatened flora and undertake competent EEC classification under the BC Act and EPBC Act Prepare ecological assessments in accordance with the EP&A Act, the BC Act and the EPBC Act. Competently prepare vegetation/bushland management plans and assist with preparation of a variety of consultancy documents. What can we offer the ideal candidate? We value variety, we are family and we care. Flexible working hours As a field and office based bushfire consultant, working hours are generally between 9am – 5.30pm with a minimum of a 38 hour week. Out of hours work will be required subject to the project requirements, including occasional weekend work on an overtime basis. Overnight stays are occasionally required for remote locations or sites where return travel on a daily basis is not practical. Benefits VPN network to work from home as required.
