Job Title: Principal Advisor, Government Champion
The Department of Education seeks a dynamic and culturally capable Principal Advisor, Government Champion to join our organisation. This permanent full-time role is available with the Department of Education, First Nations Strategy & Partnerships Division.
About The Role
This position provides an opportunity for Ministers and Government Champions of Queensland Government agencies to work together with identified communities towards improving life outcomes for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people, in a collaborative partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with the Office of the Deputy Director-General to provide support and coordination of cross-agency meetings and events within set timeframes.
* Support the Deputy Director-General First Nation Strategy & Partnerships and the First Nation Strategy & Partnerships executive management team by providing high-level strategic advice in relation to departmental and divisional matters.
* Consult with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, prescribed body corporates key community stakeholders and departmental officers and brief the Deputy Director-General on emergent and critical issues.
* Research, analyse and prepare briefs on complex reports and submissions to interpret and render advice on their technical aspects.
* Coordinate the flow of correspondence through the division, including distribution, receipting and tracking, to ensure requests are completed accurately and within set deadlines.
Travel to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will be required, which may involve travel outside normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
Mandatory Requirements
This is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person. Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage will be required.

* Experience working in a government agency or similar environment.
