The Paralegal will support the Legal department by providing legal assistance and administrative support to the Legal office. This role will involve legal research, drafting of documents, case preparation, and coordination of university-wide legal matters. The Paralegal will ensure compliance with university policies and state and federal regulations, while maintaining the utmost confidentiality.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Assist in legal research and prepare reports for the University Attorney
2. Draft, review, and edit legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and internal policies.
3. Manage and maintain legal files, ensuring proper documentation and archiving
4. Coordinate and prepare for litigation cases, depositions, mediations and court hearings.
5. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, drafting correspondences, and liaising with external law firms and the university community
6. Support compliance initiatives by monitoring university practices and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations
7. Assist in special legal projects and collaborate with other departments on legal-related matters.
8. Conduct interviews and collect data from witnesses and clients as necessary.
Requirements Include:
9. Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a Paralegal Certificate.
10. Minimum 2–5 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience, preferably in higher education or corporate settings

11. Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report
The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.
Florida Tech’s 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.
The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.
