The TV & Content Group is responsible for a key pillar of the Optus Strategic Plan; to excite our customers with a range of exclusive and non-exclusive content, delivered in an ever-increasing mobile and digital life and where customer experience needs to be uncompromising. A strong understanding of the global and local sports entertainment industry and markets along with a working understanding of navigating matrix organisations is essential to being successful in this role.
The Senior Backend Developer is a role within the TV & Content Product Development team. This group is responsible for the end to end product design and development of Optus’s TV & Content Products and Solutions. This group closely collaborates with other parts of the Optus Organisation and key partners to deliver and operate these products and solutions.
The day to day
* Contribute to backend platform development
* Detail Solution Design
* API design
* Build new API/microservices based on AWS serverless stack
* Ensure stable and high quality of each release
* Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
* Using tools to identify and fix the App exceptions and issues which are impacting customers
* Implement logging and monitoring system to monitor API and backend system
Why you are our next Senior Backend Developer
* Efficient backend developer using node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript
* Experience in building highly secure, fault tolerant, reliable, scalable and extensible systems using cloud architecture
* Extensive experience in designing and developing API
* Microservices and serverless architecture
* Experience in REST and GraphQL
* Cloud experience ideally AWS, particularly with serverless stacks such as Appsync, API Gateway, Lambda, Dynamo DB, SQS
* Data modelling, design patterns
* Strong experience in agile and engineering best practice
