The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The role
The Black Venue Assistant supports the Food and Beverage Supervisor in managing the café's daily operations, ensuring menu items are consistently high-quality and prepared in a clean, hygienic setting. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the Events and Catering Supervisor to enhance the experience of patrons and clients at The Bryan Brown Theatre and function rooms, making their visits enjoyable and comfortable.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Setting up of cafe in preparation to trade.
* Preparing and serving the daily menu and any required specials.
* Ensuring preplanning for each day, particularly for functions, special events, and activities.
* Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the cafe, meeting rooms, and all equipment and fixtures at all times.
* Assisting with theatre shows and events.
* Providing quality service of hot and cold beverages.
* Operating Council's POS system including cash registers and adhering to Council's cash handling guidelines.
* Contributing to the positive image of council by ensuring effective public and customer relations, maintaining a high standard of personal presentation, and demonstrating personal integrity, honesty, and respect for customers at all times.
You will have:
* Demonstrated experience in cafe, catering, theatre, or function service.
* Experience in food handling safe practices.
* Demonstrated experience in providing exceptional customer service to ensure high service delivery.
* Hold RSA or willingness to obtain if successful.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $30.4756 per hour plus 25% casual loading (Grade B, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
