The Principal Project Officer provides high level advice and support to the Director and Manager of Legal Assistance Strategy and Funding (LASF), to enable the efficient operation of the legal assistance sector, including through the development and delivery of critical projects. The position will work to contribute to continuous improvement in the sector, including through funding administration and processes, and ensure Queensland meets its obligations under the National Legal Assistance Partnership 2020-25 (the NLAP) (the agreement through which Commonwealth funding for legal assistance services is provided to Queensland to administer) and any future funding mechanisms.
Your key responsbilities include:
• Develop, lead, manage and implement complex projects including development of necessary project management tools, including project plans, communication strategies, risk strategies, realisation plans, project schedules project closure reports, coordinating resources, and managing budgets.
• Research, analysis and provide high level strategic policy advice in relation to legal assistance service provision.
• Identify opportunities for business and sector improvements to ensure best practice in the delivery of integrated, proactive and timely legal assistance services.
• Consult, liaise and negotiate with government and non-government agencies and stakeholders regarding policy, funding and operational matters related to the legal assistance sector.
• Build enduring relationships with key stakeholders, including Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ), community controlled legal assistance service providers and
Community Legal Centres (CLCs).
• Prepare high level submissions, briefs, reports, ministerial and departmental correspondence and policy advice for senior departmental officers.
• Develop and analyse qualitative and quantitative data and reporting requirements for the legal assistance sector.
