Martinus is seeking an Environmental Lead to support us on the Inland Rail Project. This position will be site-based. This role will suit someone local to Albury or we will look at FIFO arrangements for the right candidate.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with and lead construction teams on environmental management requirements to ensure that we meet our project obligations and improve performance.
2. Plan and oversee environmental monitoring programs associated with cultural heritage, water, waste, noise, and air.
3. Conduct required site inspections and audits.
4. Provide interpretation of results and regular progress reports against environment and sustainability performance targets.
5. Support the environmental systems needs of the business including implementation, regular reviews, and continuous improvement.
6. Assist in the management of environmental issues, including incident investigations.
7. Maintain ISO14001 Accreditation requirements.
8. Implement the Project’s sustainability strategies including the Sustainability Management Plan.
9. Develop and submit permits and approvals as required.
10. Collection of data and analysis of subcontractor and supplier sustainability performance.
11. Promote compliance in project environment and sustainability matters, delivery of training, toolboxes and awareness programs.
12. Develop strong relationships with clients, councils, regulators, and other community stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
1. 5+ years’ experience in an Environment and/or sustainability role, preferable within large infrastructure projects.
2. Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, engineering or sustainability or a related field.
3. Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
4. Good communication skills, including negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels.
5. Ability to prioritise demands and handle complex tasks, meet deadlines and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
6. ISCA experience is desirable.
