MySkillSoft is a solar based energy solutions organisation with its head office located in Melbourne, VIC. They are seeking a permanent and qualified Electrical Engineering Technician to join their engineering and operations team.
The Role
The positions will be based permanently in Melbourne, VIC and reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The Electrical Engineering Technician role is a full time position and is duly remunerated at an annual salary between $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
* Develop and prepare detailed drawings of electrical cabling systems, ensuring all design specifications meet solar production standards and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve challenges in the development of innovative solar cable systems and intelligent electrical energy solutions.
* Engage with customers to understand project requirements and present creative, forward-thinking design concepts tailored to solar energy applications.
* Prepare quotations, including material costings and identification of long lead-time components that may impact solar system production or delivery timelines.
* Ensure all quotations remain technically competitive and viable from both engineering and market perspectives.
* Coordinate the prototyping of new solar-related components, ensuring initial production units are inspected and tested for compliance with customer specifications.
* Provide swift and effective support in resolving manufacturing issues to maintain on-time delivery of solar cable assemblies and installations.
* Oversee testing, calibration, and maintenance of all electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and clean energy regulations.
* Lead initiatives for repairing, upgrading, and testing cable modification programs in support of ongoing solar project developments.
* Collect and present engineering performance data, including the use of statistical analysis and graphical reporting to drive continuous improvement in solar energy solutions.
* Foster strong communication within the Engineering Team and across departments to ensure collaborative problem-solving and cost-effective delivery of energy systems.
* Take charge of on-site technical support for customer installations, ensuring all solar energy electrical works meet safety and regulatory requirements.
The Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in the Electrical Engineering discipline
* At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar field
* At least 2 years experience in electrical cable technology
* At least 2 years experience in PLC, automation, and electrical control systems in renewable energy settings
* Possess IPC/WHMA-A-620 specialist accreditation
* Must know AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar software
* Ability to manage complex technical issues
* Exceptional knowledge and proven experience within electrical engineering systems
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
