Our operational remit encompasses an array of diverse work areas including:Asphalt and spray seal operationsRoad maintenance workMinor civil constructionQuarriesAsphalt productionLaboratoriesEmulsion and speciality productsYou will provide strategic commercial advice at a regional (VIC and TAS) level while supporting the project teams throughout their contract delivery cycles, including contract negotiation and mitigation of contractual risks. This is where your exceptional understanding of the risks and legal concepts encountered in construction contracts will be critical to the success in the position. You will proactively participate in strategy development and business planning and build positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Key TasksSome of the key tasks will include but not be limited to:Undertake contract reviews, negotiations and execution of documents in line with company procedures.Review tenders, contracts and other commercial arrangements and provide advice and mitigation strategies to senior management on contractual and commercial risks and opportunities.Liaise with in-house legal and communicate relevant messages to the broader team.Provide commercial support to Project Management throughout the contract delivery cycle.Advise Project Managers on project control, variations and any other commercial matters that arise during project delivery.Ensure the company conforms to its statutory and legal obligations under relevant legislation for corporate activities.Provide commercial input in support of Business Development activities.About YouAs a subject-matter expert, preferably with tertiary qualifications in an applicable discipline such as Engineering or Law and considerable experience in the commercial field, you will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, and effective engagement at all levels from Executives to Engineers and Administrators, as well as external stakeholders. Those advanced written and verbal communication skills will be critical to continue establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with our recurring external clients.You will have the ability to quickly develop rapport and take ownership of commercial activities that will influence positive outcomes while your exceptional organisational skills will see you successfully undertake contracts and documents review and negotiation. With your experience in the Construction industry and operational expertise, you will be able to quickly understand areas of concern and risk.
