About the opportunity:
As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the organisation's financial management, ensuring accurate reporting, effective planning, and regulatory compliance. You'll play a key role in shaping financial strategy, optimising processes and driving improvements that contribute to long-term success. This full-time permanent role offers virtual/work-from-home flexibility with occasional travel across Australia to engage with interstate teams, stakeholders and industry partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and financial planning
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Drive cash flow management, forecasting, and budget variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and decision-making
- Continuously improve financial controls, systems, and processes
Selection Criteria:
This role will see you leveraging your financial expertise and strategic insight to enable informed decisions that align with the organisation's key objectives. You'll quickly understand the broader industry landscape and contribute to driving operational excellence. Key criteria required to be successful in this role include:
- Extensive experience in assessing and interpreting financial frameworks in a Federal Government setting, demonstrating the ability to navigate and respond to the evolving landscape established by regulatory authorities
- Formal qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CFA certification (or working towards)
- Expertise in financial planning, compliance, and reporting, with proficiency in systems like Xero
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
- Proactive and strategic thinker, capable of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in financial processes and controls
