About the opportunity
Based within our Enterprise Testing and Integrated Environments & Release (ETER) Service you will be part of initiatives which will shape the Bank's future offerings to our customers. You, the Quality Engineer (QE), will provide both manual and automation testing expertise working with delivery squads. You will bring experience with a range of tools and technologies, understanding different delivery methodologies, and the capacity to shift testing left, using an automation-first approach where it will represent business value.
This is a hands-on role, where the focus will be on creating and maintaining assets in accordance with the ETER frameworks, policies, processes, and standards of the Bank. You will be expected to contribute to the uplift of processes and frameworks for the competency area to which you belong, to drive continuous improvement and will collaborate with representatives of other disciplines such as business analysts, developers, and DevOps engineers to embed quality across the delivery lifecycle and in our CI/CD pipelines.
You will have the opportunity to work with the newest technologies, lead and mentor others whilst also having access to industry learning and development platforms, plus the opportunity to attain certifications in cloud technologies.
In this role you’ll get to…
Prepare and execute manual and automated test scripts, ensuring test scripts meet the acceptance criteria and definition of done.
Raise and manage defects through to resolution.
Work with supplier and squad team members to meet the agreed quality and productivity targets.
Work with the squad to implement shift left testing, to identify defects in requirements or development as early as possible in the SLDC.
Work closely with Lead Quality Engineers and Senior Quality Engineers on the quality and performance of sprints, and releases.
Provide input to test status, and test summary reports.
Apply knowledge of CD-CI and automation frameworks to optimise test coverage, create and maintain reusable artefacts, and reduce defect leakage throughout the SLDC.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand delivery requirements and determine the appropriate test approach and test coverage based on the scope and nature of change. Identify environment, service virtualisation, and data requirements for testing activities.
Support and assist the Competency area to uplift tools, frameworks, policies, processes, and standards that are used for the relevant specialisation.
What you’ll bring to the role
To be successful in the role you will have:
Demonstrable experience in creating and maintaining automated test artefacts and pipelines using commercial and open-source tools, including at least 6 months experience with Tosca, qTest, and OpenText SV and/or similar service virtualisation tool/s (commercial and/or open source).
Knowledge of how to identify and raise risks and issues using organisational standards and frameworks.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in use of testing tools and applications including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft365, Tosca, REST Assured, Copado, Salesforce, qTest, SQL.
Proficiency in data, mainframe, cloud technologies (AWS/GCP) and integration (EAI/middleware) testing.
Ability to build and/or maintain test automation artefacts.
Experience in BDD and TDD preferred.
Track record of business acumen-based judgment, reasoning and strategic decision-making.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
