Purpose of the Position
Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service (NBCMHS) provides a comprehensive range of community mental health services for adult and older people in the Northern Beaches local government area.
NBCMHS includes community mental health care for adult and older people, assertive outreach service and mental health liaison service for Mona Vale Hospital and Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice.
The position of Clinical Director Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Services works under the leadership and in collaboration with the Service Director of NBCMHS, to lead, develop and maintain mental health services to the highest possible quality and safety standard within existing financial and other resources.
The post holder has delegated responsibility for the providing leadership of clinical governance of the legislative framework within the service directly mapped to the broader LHD/NSW Health frameworks, including clinical quality and safety, clinical key performance indicators, the implementation and evaluation of clinical service plans and models of care, best practice clinical care (including psychological, psychosocial and pharmacological interventions), system improvements.
The post holder is also responsible for the recruitment, retention, professional development, ongoing management and leadership of the medical workforce and responsibility for working with Northern Beaches Hospital Mental Health Service to ensure seamless clinical care to the community that they respectively serve.
The Clinical Director will be allocated 2 sessions for managerial duties (0.2 FTE / 8 hours per week), 2 sessions for structured clinical activities (0.2 FTE / 8 hours per week) and 1 session for teaching and educational activities (0.1 FTE / 4 hours per week) as well participate in the after-hours on-call roster.
Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways.Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.Demonstrated experience in working as a senior clinician in acute psychiatry, general hospital psychiatry and community-based and inpatient settings, including experience in working with the relevant NSW Mental Health Act (2007) or equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions and proven ability to work as a leader and manager of a multidisciplinary team across hospital and community settings; proven high performance as an experienced clinician, with experience in management and leadership.Understanding of and commitment to the National, State and Local Health District strategic direction, including commitment to a performance-based organisation.Demonstrated experience in engaging, liaising, developing sustainable and beneficial working relationships with GPs, consumers and carers, community organisations with demonstrated understanding of the recovery and care coordination models of care.Proven experience in management and leadership, including proven ability to work as a leader of a multi-disciplinary clinical team and experience in teaching psychiatry to students, trainees and others and supervising trainees in psychiatry and ability to communicate vision and strategy effectively; inspire and motivate others toward the achievement of goals and create a values based organisational culture.Demonstrated interest in improvement of clinical governance of mental health services, including quality improvement methodologies, and a commitment to fostering this interest in medical staff and other clinicians.Current NSW Driver's License and the ability to drive.Need more information?
