The NSW Government have launched the state’s first Primary Prevention Strategy which aims to stop violence before it starts, by shifting community attitudes and behaviours that underly gender-based violence. The success of this plan requires coordination of prevention efforts across NSW and building a skilled prevention workforce. The Prevention Officer is a newly established role that will work closely with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Primary Prevention team to support the expansion and evaluation of primary prevention work in NSW.

Required Experience -
Industry experience
· Experience in fields related to violence prevention
including political or social science, public policy, health promotion, education, arts, humanities, gender studies, social work or domestic, sexual and family violence.
Required education
- Relevant qualification/s, in political or social science, public policy, health promotion, education, arts, humanities, gender studies, social work or domestic, sexual and family violence.
Required experience and skills
· Understanding that prevention doesn’t sit in isolation
and many response services are doing prevention work.
· Understanding that prevention cannot be siloed and sits across primary prevention, early intervention, response and recovery.
· Strong skills and experience with relationship building, and stakeholder engagement skills, with government, non-government and community groups.
· Strong organisational, time management, project management and planning skills, including ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
· Demonstrated ability to develop resources and facilitate communities of practice or training workshops.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
· Familiarity with program evaluation methodologies and tools.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Cultural competence, with the ability to engage with diverse communities.
