7 at Avondale is currently seeking a Head Chef for an opportunity to join the team full-time, located on the grounds of Avondale University in Cooranbong.

This exciting role will have you in a busy kitchen that provides a cafeteria and café experience to the Avondale University community and the greater community.
What will you do?
Design seasonal menus that showcase creativity, innovation, and culinary expertise while considering customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking, to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Lead and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to maintain a high level of teamwork and morale.
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs while maintaining quality standards and minimizing waste.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and food handling procedures to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Collaborate with the venue management team to develop promotional events, special menus, and culinary initiatives that enhance the overall dining experience.
Conduct regular inspections and tastings to uphold food quality, presentation, and consistency, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.

Essential criteria
Possesses a can-do attitude.
Physically fit to meet the role’s inherent physical demands.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Ability and experience working as a part of a team.
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent working experience.
Previous experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-volume culinary environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Ability to work a seven-day roster as well as split shifts and reasonable overtime as required.
