Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.About the roleThe Registrations, Monitoring & Procurement Team ensures secure and reliable energy delivery to the WEM by overseeing the registration and connection of new facilities to the SWIS, managing Year 3 of the Reserve Capacity Cycle, and leading the procurement of new energy and other market services outside of the annual Certified Reserve Capacity process.In the role of Commercial Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering and managing commercial solutions for the procurement of capacity services and essential system services in the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) in Western Australia. You will be pivotal in maintaining a commercial focus with all external parties wanting to provide operational system services in the WEM.You will also be required to use a high level of initiative and make independent decisions on commercial matters.As the WEM procurement of capacity services and essential system services in the WEM is conducted on an as-needed basis, the role may require you to support AEMO's System Capability team (east coast team) in the procurement for non-market ancillary services and Reliability and Emergency Reserve Trader (RERT) within the National Electricity Market (NEM), when WEM procurement is not needed.What you will be doingLeading commercial negotiations for the procurement of capacity and market services, whilst ensuring all technical requirements are contractually captured and manage the tender process.Acting as the key interface between legal, metering, settlements, markets and engineering teams throughout the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from initial tendering through to contract execution.Leading vital commercial negotiations and overseeing contract management and administration.Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including market participants, government and regulatory bodies, and managing and responding to their queries.Supporting and providing operational advice for procurement of capacity and essential system services and operationalising signed agreements into AEMO contract management systems and databases.What you will bring to the roleRelevant tertiary qualifications (Engineering, legal, finance, commerce, or other relevant discipline) supported by significant experience in commercial management.Experience in commercial management of large-scale energy related contracts within the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) or National Electricity Market would be highly regarded but is not essential.Knowledge of the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules (WEM) as they relate to Supplementary Capacity, Non-Co-optimised Essential System Services and Supplementary Essential System Services Mechanism is desirable.Demonstrated commercial negotiation and contract management skills.High level of commercial acumen to identify contract issues and develop proposed actions.Ability to use effective contract management skills and negotiate fair contractual terms to AEMO and reduce costs to energy consumers.Use strong stakeholder and leadership capabilities to influence others and successfully resolve contract issues.In return some of our benefits to youFlexible working: work from home, hybrid options, and additional leave options.Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.Reward your hard work with annual performance bonuses (subject to eligibility).Embrace a healthier you with our wellness program, discounted health insurance, gym perks and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).About Our ProcessAEMO values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, welcoming applications from all backgrounds without regard to age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, parental status, race, religion and our First Nation peoples.
