What you’ll be doing
The role of the Social Worker within Queensland Centre of Excellence in Autism and Intellectual Disability Health (QCEAIDH) is a brand-new position that is to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, working closely with medical staff (psychiatry, general practice, physician), allied health professionals, nursing and other team members and providing clinical leadership and expertise at a senior practice level to ensure patients of the service receive patient centred and evidence-based care.
The role will provide clinical assessment and treatment within the specialty of intellectual and developmental disability and across the age spectrum; implementing change to clinical practice; educating health professionals, developing undergraduate curriculum in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and initiating research and quality improvement activities with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of those with IDD.
About you
You will have an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
1. Post registration experience in Social Work preferably in IDD with experience managing junior social work staff and students.
2. Employees are required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment.
3. A current, full drivers’ licence which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g., wearing glasses) while undertaking hospital duties (If applicable)
4. Post graduate qualification or working towards in relevant field.
5. Experience in working with people with IDD.
6. Outpatient/community or outreach experience
7. Sound knowledge of NDIS application, process and review
8. Working towards mental health accreditation with AASW
