We are seeking an experienced and detailed oriented Logistics Commercial Lead to join our Logistics Performance Team and contribute to Boral’s Logistics Performance Improvement Program. This is a national role focused on overseeing the management of rates and contracts for our massive outsourced fleet spanning the entire Boral business. The successful candidate will develop and maintain detailed cost models, drive rate and contract reviews, manage surcharges, and determine industry best practices for logistics cost management to ensure cost-effective and efficient logistics operations. Based in Port Melbourne, this is an 18 month fixed term opportunity to play a key role in driving logistics excellence for one of Australia’s largest transport and logistics businesses.
Your day will involve:
1. Rate and Contract Management: Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts with logistics service providers. Regularly review and update rates to ensure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.Analyze and evaluate rate structures and pricing models to optimize costs, reporting on rate and contract performance.
2. Cost Modelling: Create and maintain detailed cost models to support budgeting and financial planning.Analyze cost data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.Collaborate with finance, procurement and operations teams to ensure accurate cost forecasting.
3. Surcharge Management: Monitor and manage surcharges imposed by logistics providers.Negotiate surcharge terms and conditions to minimize impact on overall logistics costs.Ensure compliance with contractual surcharge agreements and industry standards.
4. Industry Best Practices: Research and identify industry best practices for logistics management.Implement best practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
5. Performance Analysis: Conduct regular performance reviews and reporting of logistics service providersTrack logistics cost performance against budgetDevelop and execute improvement plans based on performance analysis.
What are we looking for?
6. Proven experience in logistics management, with a focus on rate and contract management.
7. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
8. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
9. Strong analytical skills and experience in cost modelling and financial analysis.
