Thursday Island Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) is located on Thursday Island, part of the Torres Strait Islands in Queensland, Australia. It provides essential health services to the local community, including emergency care, general medical services, maternal and child health, and chronic disease management. The centre supports the primary healthcare needs of both residents and visitors to the island. While the PHCC itself does not have inpatient beds, Thursday Island Hospital, nearby, has around 36 beds to support more intensive medical care.
Fun Fact about Thursday Island: Thursday Island, often called "TI," is known for its rich cultural heritage, being home to the Indigenous Torres Strait Islander people. It was also a significant hub for pearl diving in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, attracting workers from all over the world
